Overview
The Community Outreach Nurse is a licensed RN who plays a key role in Beebe Healthcare’s community-based outreach efforts. This position supports health fairs, screenings, vaccination events, health promotion initiatives, and educational programs throughout Sussex County and southern Kent County.
Position Overview
Schedule: Up to 10 hours per week, typically in 2-4 hour shifts
Availability: Weekday and weekend community health events
Location: Various sites across Sussex County, DE
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality clinical care and health education at outreach events
Ensure exceptional customer service and adherence to Beebe Healthcare values
Transport, set up, and break down event supplies and equipment
Maintain competency with outreach equipment and procedures
Collaborate with the Community Health Coordinator, Outreach Manager, and Director
Adapt to evolving community health needs and priorities
This role is ideal for an RN passionate about community health, patient education, and outreach growth with the ability to meet the scheduling needs of this position. Strong clinical and communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate a strong knowledge of nursing practices and procedures and adherence to established patient screening procedures.
Support community-based event operations including staffing needs, supporting fellow team members, addressing participant/patient concerns, and problem solving if complications arise.
Maintain knowledge of current guidelines and recommendations, including vaccination information, for influenza, COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. Provide vaccinations and document as required.
Participates in providing professional healthcare services to diverse populations in order to complement the delivery of high quality care at Beebe Healthcare.
Provides patient education, screenings, and other healthcare needs as appropriate for role both inside and outside of Beebe Healthcare facilities.
Demonstrates intrinsic ability to be flexible, adaptable, and collaborative in varied environments to collectively assess and implement best approaches to care as a team.
Ability to work independently, organize, monitor, and adjust work as necessary to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Provides age appropriate and culturally competent health education to all populations. Travels to designated locations as required to administer vaccines, conduct health screenings, and other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Prior outreach experience (Preferred)
Minimum of two (2) years recent experience as a professional nurse in a clinical setting.
