The Nurse Manager will be responsible for the administration of nursing services. Directs, plans, and coordinates the service activities and staffing performance of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel in rendering quality patient care. Provides direct patient care. Responsibilities include:
Selects, train, develops, evaluates, and motivates a highly skilled professional and allied staff.
Assures that departmental staff complete orientation, maintain clinical competence, participate in continuing education, received counseling and are evaluated in a timely manner.
Oversees the receipt, evaluation, acceptance and execution of the initial patient intake process to assure that patient verification, assessment, teaching and the ongoing scheduling of nursing services occurs in a timely and appropriate manner.
Assures that all patient related documentation and clinical and departmental reports are accurately completed, submitted and/or filed in a timely manner, according to internal and external regulatory requirements and in support of the billing process.
Participates in planning, decision-making and implementation of all service center activities that affect clinical nursing services and the performance of the multi-disciplinary team.
Responsible for cost effectiveness and productivity of nursing department
Secures and maintains all applicable internal, professional, local, state, federal and voluntary licensures, certifications, accreditations and employment requirements as required of staff and department.
Works closely with the Operations Manager to assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate clinical and administrative policies, procedures, programs and systems.
The nurse manager may be asked to serve as Director of Nursing for state law licensure purposes including the scope of duties provided for by that state.
Assures own professional growth and clinical competence.
Assures adherence to all policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
Reports to the appropriate management any known or suspected violations of policies, procedures, regulations or standards of conduct.
Serves as administrator for ambulatory infusion suite/suites ensuring licensure and accreditations are active and valid.
Oversees activities of the ambulatory infusion suite and ensures all required documentation is current and in order.
Provides direct and indirect skilled nursing care to patients. Such provisions of care as needed
Completes all necessary managerial tasks for direct reports including hiring, training, addressing performance issues, developing team goals and objectives, performance reviews, conflict resolution, and strategic planning.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:30am-5pm
Must be able to participate in on-call rotation of 15 days per month (weekend included)
Must have knowledge of State Licensed, Non-Certified Home Health Agency regulations in the state of NY.
Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a BSN, MSN preferred
Current RN Licensure by the applicable state’s board of Nursing, in good standing
On-Call Requirement: This position requires participation in an on-call rotation, nights and weekends included, providing as-needed support outside of regular business hours to address urgent issues and ensure continuous operations.
Administrative Oversight: Responsible for providing administrative oversight, including monitoring of workflows, ensuring compliance with policies, and managing resources efficiently to meet organizational objectives.
Emergency Availability: Must be available to respond promptly to emergencies, ensuring rapid and effective resolution of issues to minimize impact on operations. Availability during non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the nature of the emergency.
Minimum 5 years Nursing practice in a related specialty such as home infusion and or specialty infusion, home health, oncology, nutrition support, IV therapy or critical care
Minimum 5 years Pediatric Nursing experience ideal
Clinical expertise in IV therapies with monitoring, skill and knowledge of all types of IV lines
Minimum 2 years management experience, proven ability to manage, train and educate staff on new protocols and existing standard operating procedures
Ability to work with all levels of employees in a fast paced clinical environment and manage multiple complex projects
Knowledge of State licensed, non-certified, home health agency regulations
Ability to directly supervise and manage staff for a licensed home health agency
Proficiency with MS Office
Advanced certification in specialty areas of practice (e.g. CRNI, ONS, IgRN) preferred but not required
