The role you’ll contribute: Provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a RN or physician. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides for personal care, emotional support and performs more complex clinical skills under the direction of a RN.

Provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of an RN or physician.
Assist patients with activities of daily living, provides for personal care and emotional support.
Provide care appropriate to condition and age of patient, including pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
Participate in the admission process by taking vital signs and height and/or weights. Orient the patient and family to the unit and hospital. Document care on the admission database. P
Provide care which may include bed bath, shower, whirlpool, oral hygiene, back rubs, peri-care, freshening linen, cleaning overbed tables, straightening room and other general care as directed by the RN.
Provide general nursing care such as positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in use of bedpan, commode and ambulating patients.
Contribute relevant and appropriate information to the RN for daily revision of the plan of care.
Promptly report any changes in patient status (e.g., changes in vital signs, level of consciousness, weight, mobility status, comfort level, feeding pattern or any unusual occurrences) to the RN in a timely manner.
Verify the diet order for each patient to whom assigned, feed or assist with feeding, and assists with fluid intake as directed by the RN or patient care plan.
Set up and checks equipment for proper functioning. Reports malfunction to the RN.
Follow procedures for standard precautions at all times.
Monitor and accurately record patient intake and output in a timely fashion and in accordance with hospital policy and physician order including routine intake/output, strict intake/output, and calorie counts.
Transport patients to various depts for ordered tests/procedures.
Document provided care clearly and concisely on the daily care record.
Observe patient's mental and physical conditions, report any changes to RN.
Distribute drinking water and snacks to patients as applicable.
Treat patients and families with respect and dignity.
Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Use proper body mechanics to protect self and patient. Under the direction of an RN, CNA II performs complex clinical skills; wound care; suctioning, tracheostomy care, oxygen therapy, IV care, urinary catherization.
Knowledgeable of sterile techniques and infection control procedures.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
High School graduate or equivalent required
Completion of CNA l and CNA ll courses required
Current BLS required
Current CNA certification in the state of North Carolina required
Listing on the North Carolina Board of Nursing Nurse Aide ll Registry required
