Responsible for providing patient care within the Registered Nurse scope of practice utilizing critical thinking skills to manage ill or injured patients during transport between healthcare facilities. Routinely transports patients who are unstable and in critical condition, to facilities where a higher level of care can be given
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. 2. Assumes responsibility for total patient care when in the best interest of the patient's needs. 3. Documents the patient's plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions. 4. Conveys all pertinent information regarding the patient to the receiving facility. 5. Interprets and implements physician's transport orders. 6. Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment. 7. Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment. 8. Participates in CQI for the Critical Care Transport Program. 9. Participates in training related to the Critical Care Transport Program. 10. Ensures patient's rights and confidentiality. 11. Maintains certifications and skills as required by both state and local authorities
Required: 1. Graduate of an accredited Nursing Education Program 2. Valid New Jersey Nursing License 3. BLS Required 4. PALS Required 5. ACLS Required
Preferred: 1. In-depth knowledge of professional nursing theories, principles, and procedures.
2. Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department or Critical Care setting 3. Strong knowledge and ability to operate and monitor highly complex technical and specialized equipment; i.e., cardiac monitors, EKG machines, infant resuscitation equipment, infusion pumps, radiant warmers, isolettes, and transport incubators. 4. Demonstrate proficient computer skills required for charting, order processing, etc
5. EMT, CTRN/CFRN, MICN/MICP, PHTLS, Pennsylvania RN, PHRN all preferred, Will be required within 2 years of hire date.
