AdventHealth Lake Wales is a licensed 160-bed hospital, with 24-hour emergency care and outpatient services including imaging, rehab, lab and wound care, that has been serving the community and surrounding areas.

Lake Wales is located in Central Florida in between Orlando and Tampa and is home to the Historic Bok Tower Gardens and Bird Sanctuary.
The role you’ll contribute:
The Vascular Access Resource Nurse is an RN with advanced knowledge and expertise in managing complex patients and diseases and has a solid knowledge of quality measures. The Vascular Access Resource Nurse serves as a resource for all clinical staff in a variety of settings including Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Progressive Care, Critical Care and ED offering support in management, clinical assessment and skills and care planning for vascular access and management. The Vascular Access Resource Nurse leads the staff in evidenced-based practice on patient care units and assists the units in achieving related goals. The Vascular Access Resource Nurse is a registered professional nurse validated as a Vascular Access Specialist, who is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total vascular access care to all age groups as identified in the direct care responsibilities. Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating), in achieving the goals of the Advent Health Tampa. Communicates with Department Supervisor, Clinical Specialist or Educator as needed to enhance excellence in the delivery of patient care. Adheres to the AdventHealth Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
The Vascular Access Resource Nurse will complete focused rounding based on population needs for vascular access. This RN collaborates with unit leaders and educators in supporting individual units in achieving Quality, Clinical and Patient Experience Goals related to Intravenous therapies and vascular access needs. Vascular Access Resource Nurse will also assist the nursing staff through support in bedside skills including vascular access, training, access management including dressing care, procedures involving, best practices and identification of complications related to vascular access.
Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities. Demonstrates accurate documentation and monitoring of activities as needed. Reflects a working knowledge of AdventHealth Policies and Procedures in daily activities. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Communicates with Department Supervisor, Clinical Specialist, or Educator as needed to enhance excellence in the delivery of patient care.
Performs proper documentation for all procedures and assessments in the patient electronic medical record. Performs venous access related procedures within the scope of practice of the RN licensure. Functions appropriately in Code Blue and other clinical emergencies. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions. Interprets and verifies physician orders, investigates questionable situations. Demonstrates continuous competency in the specific procedures related to venous access. Provides expert resourcing to staff nurses and other departments as consulted.
Identifies individualized plan of care based on patients’ needs related to both infusion therapy and the venous access consult and intervenes appropriately. Evaluates patients’ developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs and evaluates availability of support system consistent with assessment.
Evaluates the need for and provides patient teaching in all aspects of the venous access specialty.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Graduate of School of Nursing
Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse
BLS certification
Minimum 3 years' experience as RN
Vascular Access experience
Peripheral Intravenous Access, PICC Validation, Port Access Validation
