Position Summary

Novice Infection Preventionists (IP) coordinates learning and on-going competency with the comprehensive organization-wide infection surveillance, prevention and control program in accordance with current requirements of regulatory, government and accrediting/licensing agencies and organizational policies and procedures. Duties include learning surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs); collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of surveillance data; outbreak investigation; and program evaluation.

Education

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field. (Required)
• Masters degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field. (Preferred)

Experience

• Previous experience as a infection preventionist in an acute care facility within last 3-5 years (Preferred)
• Recent acute care or pediatric experience within 3-5 years (Preferred)

Certifications

• Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (i.e.: CIC preferred) or, attainment within 3 years after employment (Preferred)

Special Skills

• Proficiency and strength in analytical skills, problem solving with strong oral and written communication skills and collaboration inter and intra departmentally. (Required)
• Displays the ability to implement evidence-based guidelines, and deal with conflict and management of change. (Required)
• Self motivated, autonomous, detail oriented and organized approach to daily and routine work. (Preferred)
• Expertise in data collection and analysis, report writing, and data presentation to staff , management and leadership
  (Preferred)
• Familiar with software technologies, excel and other office products to support presentations, data analysis and reporting.
  (Required)
• Knowledge and experience in areas of patient care practices, microbiology, disinfection, sterilization, infectious diseases. (Preferred)
