Overview The Atlantic Health System Nurse Externship Program is for students obtaining their Bachelor of Science in Nursing who are in their junior year. Our five hospitals include Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center (Summit), Chilton Medical Center (Pompton Plains), Newton Medical Center, and Hackettstown Medical Center. The externship is not open to students enrolled in an associate program or an RN to BSN program. Students will be assigned to a specific unit for the entire externship. Although we will do our very best to accommodate unit preferences, placement will be ultimately determined by unit need. Students must be open to exploring the unit they are placed even if it was not their first choice. Assignments will be received just prior to the star
