Registered Nurse 2 - Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)

Your Role: Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards. *Sign-on bonus for eligible candidates.
- RN for the ECT is electroconvulsive therapy; treatment for depression.
- RN (to be) ACLS qualified, or expect within a reasonable time frame.
- The applicant for the position will be performing duties primarily as a recovery room nurse with complete pre-treatment documentation; insure the patient meets the basic criteria for treatment (NPO status, medication and allergy review and recent medical history).
- Prep the patient for treatment, to include starting the IV, or accessing the port or picc; also responsible for initiating time out plus transitioning the patient to the anesthesia team prior to treatment.
- Post-ECT treatment plan includes responsibilities for recovery. This includes airway, cardiovascular, medication and IV management; the ability to adjust to agitated patients post treatment until resolved. (works within a team well); once patient is recovered and meets discharge criteria, you will assist the patient to the inpatient unit or to the responsible person for transport home.
- RN will be cross-trained to operate the transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) machine and to provide treatments to select patients.
Position Shift:
- Monday-Friday, 8a-5p. No Call or Holiday shifts are required.

- Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital is an 106 bed hospital for children, adolescents, and adult patients.
