Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Supervising Advanced Practice Nurse (Electrophysiology), for the Department of Medicine at the New Jersey Medical School. The Supervising Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), Electrophysiology (EP) will work within the scope of his/her practice and in collaboration with the Attending Electrophysiology Physician(s) to provide direct, safe and evidence-based care to the patients in the outpatient, procedural and inpatient EP settings. The APN Supervisor (EP) will provide supervision over the other Electrophysiology practice nursing staff. This position reports directly to the Director of Electrophysiology.
Provides direct patient care and serves as a team leader in the outpatient EP clinic for effective workflow.
Performs outpatient consults, follow-ups and urgent visits.
Develops, implements and monitors effectiveness of treatment plans.
Orders medications (IV drips, PO meds) and prescribes medications with use of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Documents medical records (history, physical exams, and other patient encounters).
Works closely with the Attending Physician(s) to manage and provide direct patient care on the inpatient EP service.
Admits and discharges patients in the inpatient EP service.
Provides Inpatient Consults in collaboration with Attending EP Physician(s).
Performs daily rounds on inpatients with documentation of encounters and clinical plan.
Works with and provides appropriate referrals to interdisciplinary team members.
Performs device interrogations and device adjustments as needed for patients in various units (operating rooms etc.).
Initiates/obtains prior authorizations (anti-coagulants, anti-arrhythmic and for diagnostic and therapeutic studies).
Manages the outpatient Device Clinic and Remote Patient Monitoring Device Clinic.
Educates patients and families on EP procedures (EP studies, ablations, device implants).
