Valley Children's Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the NICU team. Ranked as one of the best children’s hospitals in Neonatology by U.S. News & World Report in 2018-2019 – the second such ranking for our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) – Valley Children’s NICU offers the most comprehensive array of services for critically ill newborns to ensure the best possible quality of life. Valley Children’s main Hospital campus in Madera provides Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) support - the highest level of care available for neonates and infants. Valley Children’s supports a network of NICUs throughout Central California, providing the opportunity for families with critically ill babies to receive treatment closer to home throughout his or her entire stay.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an advanced practice nurse who functions in the role of expert clinician, educator, leader, consultant and researcher.
Position Details and Responsibilities:
Collaborates with the healthcare team to monitor the clinical care of patients and provide clinical support to improve patient care and outcomes
Uses in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience
Provides solutions for complex systems and processes in patient care
Serve as a role model, patient advocate, charge agent, and leader to enhance patient care
Position practices within the scope of the California Nursing Practice Act and in accordance with Valley Children's policies
Master's Degree in Nursing required
Valid CA RN license AND CNS license
Experience and expertise in clinical nursing specialty
NRP is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer into position
Minimum three (3) years clinical area experience
Minimum (1) year NICU experience equivalent to a Regional or Community NICU
Minimum five (5) years increasingly responsible experience which demonstrates proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job
Hours, Compensation and Benefits: This is a Full Time, Exempt, day shift position and offers a robust benefits plan and a competitive salary that is based on experience.
