Nemours is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Manager, FULL-TIME, to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida.
Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. A hospital designed by families for families, Nemours Children’s Hospital blends the healing power of nature with the latest in healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to the children of Central Florida and beyond. This Pharmacy Technician Manager position is responsible for providing Pharmacy Services within the Inpatient Pharmacy Department and the Nemours Children’s Hospital (NCH). The position is responsible for overseeing Pharmacy operations pertinent to management of pharmacy technicians, technician workflow, and regulatory requirements in the Pharmacy Department. This position works under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy.
Develops standards of performance, monitors and supervises pharmacy technicians. Responsible for the coordination of staff development. Evaluates performance, monitors and manages staff to ensure that services are provided are timely and efficient. Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions, such as merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary action.
Conducts performance management and disciplinary actions to improve the performance of direct reports.
Assumes responsibility for competency assessment, orientation/training, and education of direct reports.
Performs all functions of a pharmacy technician as required.
Coordinates and maintains organization of technician teams, scheduling meetings, addresses issues.
Monitors productivity, workload patterns, and compliance with standard work, barcoding safety software, and USP 797 documentation.
Responsible for technician scheduling.
Carries out rules and regulations pertaining to the professional policies of the pharmacy department and ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations.
Understands and becomes a resource for the operation and functionality of pharmacy automation and equipment including technology to support pharmacy operations.
Able to maintain punctual attendance consistent with Nemours policies, regulatory, and federal, state, and local standards.
Strong communications skills are required. Prepared to interact with both internal and external customers and respond appropriately.
Maintains an advanced knowledge of Pharmacy operations and the expected state of operations as pertaining to:
a. Unit dose cart fill, Pyxis functionality, IV preparation (e.g. syringes, admixtures, chemotherapy, continuous, total parenteral nutrition, etc.), unit dose packaging, filling outpatient prescriptions, barcoding, Pharmacy inspections, oral liquid compounding, stock inventory maintenance and replenishment, code cart process, aseptic compounding of parenteral admixtures and other sterile dosage forms, and appropriate personal protective equipment.
Serves as point person and content expert for automated dispensing system including regular maintenance, set up of new equipment, user maintenance, server reports, and improving key performance indicators.
Bachelor's Degree required. If you do not have a Bachelor's degree, it must be obtained with 3 years of hire or have more than 10 years of experience.
Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience required.
Hospital Pharmacy and management experience required.
Florida Pharmacy Technician licensure required.
Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred.
