This Staff Nurse will be responsible for:
The Boston Childrens Hospital IV Team is expanding our program to meet the evolving needs of our multiple patient care areas; including critical care, inpatient and ambulatory patient populations.
Providing vascular access nursing care incorporating the Boston Children’s Hospital Nursing Synergy Model components.
Placement of peripheral IVs and PICC lines for patients from infancy to adult using vascular visualization devices including ultrasound.
Consulting with staff related to vascular access devices and complications of vascular access.
Care and maintenance of vascular access devices and clinical interventions for PICC issues: including clearance of occluded catheters, removal of catheters with resistance, dressing protocols for skin issues.
Providing unit-based education.
Participation in quality and process improvement projects.
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, day/evening rotation with occasional night coverage, every third weekend. 30 hours per week and 36 hours per week available.
To qualify, you must have:
Minimum of 2 - 3 years RN experience, including experience inserting and caring for vascular access devices. Pediatric experience strongly preferred.
Experience in the use of vascular visualization devices including ultrasound guidance, PICC insertion and pediatric IV experience strongly preferred.
CRNI or VA-BC certification strongly preferred.
